People spend thousands of dollars on creams, lotions, vitamins, medication and washes to try to combat the sometimes debilitating skin conditions like acne and rosacea. They get told they will need to take medication forever (I know I did).
My Rosacea Story
I have had it since I was pregnant with my first child, many develop it from the age of about 30. Apparently people can develop it during pregnancy with the increase of hormones in the body when you are pregnant (hey I also shrunk, I needed root canal and my feet grew from a size 10 to 11- yes and it was all worth it!). I am not a medical professional and this purely is my story with what worked for me.
What is rosacea? (pronounced Roy-ZAY-sha)
According to The Rosacea Society, rosacea “is a chronic and potentially life-disruptive disorder primarily of the facial skin, often characterized by flare-ups and remissions. Many have observed that it typically begins as a redness on the cheeks, nose, chin or forehead that may come and go. In some cases, rosacea may also occur on the neck, chest, scalp or ears. Over time, the redness tends to become ruddier and more persistent, and visible blood vessels may appear. Left untreated, bumps and pimples often develop, and in severe cases the nose may grow swollen and bumpy from excess tissue”.
It’s not very nice, people will have different triggers with different things impacting on people with rosacea for example chocolate can mean a flare up for one person, whereas eating wheat could be the next person’s flare up. For me hormonal imbalances are a huge trigger.
I used a RANGE of things to try and combat my Rosacea (outlined below), what I have LEARNT is it is important to Think HOLISTICALLY– introducing chemical free cleaning- reducing exposure on the skin surfaces: less exposure= less chance of a reaction, thinking about what is going IN to the body aswell as ON to the body. I will outline what helped for me, knowing that many men and women had/have Rosacea so far worse than I ever did- I do feel for anyone who has it.
I really didn’t want too, but I felt I wanted to show you one of the less dramatic pictures I took in the midst of a flare up.
One of the areas of research was the use of Vitamin B to help. I ordered online a natural vitamin B5 formula/tablet. It was fabulous and after a month- I felt my skin was healing from within and recovering from all the creams my doctors kept prescribing me. I used the Norwex body cloths which gently removed the bacteria from my face and neck, like nothing I’d ever experienced. And it is here that the magic happened! I also used the Body cloths to help with the DRY skin that I had from the creams the doctors prescribed originally followed with the shea butter- which was so amazing at soothing my skin and taking away the dry patches.
When I had my skin under control I used the Norwex Naturally Timeless Daycream which is a natural, soothing, beautiful moisturiser (with NO nasties in it). As I mentioned, I do have flare ups still, and quite often flushed cheeks and forehead but the pimples are so much fewer and usually gone within 3-4 days. This photo is much nicer and I’m so thrilled it’s all under control once more!
If you or someone close to you, doesn’t have acne or rosacea you won’t understand the enormity of what I have just written- if you do, then perhaps this article offers some hope? This in the purest form is my intention in writing this article. I must say this at this point, this is MY experience, and I am not a medical professional.
I often share my story not because I might get some business (although this is great of course!) but rather because it worked for me and I KNOW how these conditions can impact on self esteem, how it can influence sometimes even leaving the house. So please feel free to share this with anyone you know who might like to have a natural solution for their skin conditions. I encourage you to read on and invest some risk free money for a natural skin solution. How can you get some of these products? Norwex is sold though consultants and also online if you click here you will be taken to my online store. (Ps why is it RISK FREE? Because products come with a 60 day money back satisfaction guarantee!)
Rosacea, Acne and Face care: The products that could help!
I have friends and customers with teenagers, desperately seeking a solution for their face care and acne issue. Parents spending hundreds on products which often don’t live up to their stated claims. Men and women all with the same issue… acne. I want to introduce you to the body cloth which CLEANSES and EXFOLIATES the face and body JUST WITH WATER. I love the stories one of my consultants shares about her teenage son… he washes the dishes with no shirt and for three days she wiped his very pimple-filled back with the body cloth… on the fourth day… the pimples had gone! Argh this cloth is A-M-AAAAA-Y-ZING!!! :))
The Norwex Body Cloth
How it works…
The Body Cloth cleanses and exfoliates the skin. The dryer the cloth the more exfoliation, so around the eye areas particularly have it quite wet or use our Suede make up cloths which are very gentle on the skin and offers gentle cleansing alongside make up removal. Have a read about them in a previous blog entry HERE. If you have very inflamed skin I wouldn’t have it too dry. For oily skin or for deeper exfoliation, wring cloth out well before use.
More water in the cloth = the less it will remove oils and exfoliate,
less water in the cloth = the more it will remove oils & exfoliate.
The really effective thing the microfibre also does is when you wipe your face, the microfibre grabs bacteria and other impurities off your skin AND then doesn’t spread it over the rest of your face- this also helps in management of skin issues.
I know when I was really struggling with my face, this cloth was so good at helping with the dry skin that came about from my medication. I also used our shea butter as the only moisturiser (it only has three ingredients and offers really great hydration).
As the cloths have added silver to them (have a read about that here) this also aids in cleaning the cloth, while the microfibres are drying.
Also amazing at removing face paint, dye, kiddy mess & face cleaning, perfect for travel & so much more!
For managing acne, use fresh cloth daily.
BODY CLOTH MAINTENANCE: After use for removing makeup the washer could be stained with mascara, eyeliner and lipstick. Just apply a bit of soap (eg.sard) to the washer and rub against itself, rinse and wring out, and the makeup will wash right out.
IMPORTANT: Take care using around delicate eye and lip areas on the face. The Suede Makeup Remover Cloth is recommended for use on these areas.
A Body Cloth testimony…
“I write this post not as a Norwex consultant, but as a mum, wife and 35 year old woman who has suffered from cystic acne for 23 years. Over this time I have tried countless home remedies, skin treatments, prescription medicines – including the very dangerous drug roaccutane and spent tens of thousands of dollars on skincare products in the hope that one day I might just ‘be normal’. There has not been one single day where I have not had a pimple on my face, including the most magical day of my life – my wedding day. I have endured many unkind words by strangers commenting on my skin and have always looked at myself in the mirror and asked ‘why me..’. There may be some of you reading this who have quickly labelled me as vain, but there may also be someone reading this who is nodding to themselves and knows exactly what I am trying to say. To some they are just pimples, but to myself and others who suffer from cystic acne it is a constant emotional battle to remain confident within yourself and not allow what others see to determine who you really are… On May 27th 2013 I thought I would give the Norwex body cloths a try, after all, seriously, what’s a $10 cloth going to do that a $180 bottle of skin cleanser hasn’t already done – unsuccessfully. After the first use my skin felt nice and smooth, well as smooth as it could be, but I wasn’t convinced. After all I had been in this same situation over a hundred times or more. I persisted, and am I glad I did! With tears of happiness running down my cheek I am happy to report for the first time in 23 years my skin is clear, and has been for close to 2 months. I am receiving compliments from people on how great my skin looks and for the first time in a very long time I feel beautiful, both inside and out. I chose to write this not as a sales pitch, but in the hope that someone may read this who is in the very same situation or knows of someone who is, and give them the opportunity to try something that could very well change their life completely. Thankyou Norwex for producing such a fantastic product, there are no words to explain how you have changed my life to the extent you have.” Carmen Dridan, Victoria
For a more gentle cloth the suede make up cloth, cleanses but has little exfoliation. It will take your make up off with just water. As we are talking specifically about face issues- one of the KEYS is reducing the products we put on our faces- so using a cloth and just WATER makes sense hey?! (yes it works! Have a read about it here!)
Our Microfibre Towels
Regular towels harbour bacteria big time… If you would like to watch a short video about that, please check it our via this link . It’s a bit of an eye opening watch so be prepared! The Norwex microfibre antibacterial towel range is so soft and amazing. Again, makes sense if you are looking for a holistic approach- that they can help in reducing and controlling acne and other skin issues.
So in summary, what Norwex could I try for Acne, rosacea, dry skin or other skin issues?
