Kids… if you “paint” the mirror with toothpaste- you can clean it!!

kids cleaning the bathroom

LOVE LOVE LOVE the fact that my kids clean their bathroom… using just water and a few cloths. In the past few months, two of my little gems have decided, they will “paint” the mirror quite regularly- it has now “officially” become their job to clean it!! And not just the mirror, the whole bathroom. Slave driver? I don’t think so. I’m a big believer in them learning responsibility and involving them in the cleaning. I love that with Norwex, they can safely do so, because we don’t use harmful chemicals. If they “spray” a bit too much water, no big deal! 🙂

So what did we use…

* An enviro cloth (damp)
* A window cloth (dry)

YOU know what else? Think of all the money and time you will save 🙂

I like to call them “the besties” – the work SO WELL TOGETHER!!

Get them in the kick start kit or one of our other sets for a discount!!!

This of course can be made in a good blender 🙂

Warning: very addictive! Just ask my husband who asks for this nearly every night! LUCKY he travels and can get it duty free!! 🙂

You may wonder why this would be on my blog, well it is being modelled on our beautiful latte microfibre towel 🙂

I am collecting a mix of my own recipes here to share aswell 🙂

How Norwex can help you to Clean the Thermomix ….

Are you lucky enough to have a thermomix?

You may be reading this and thinking ‘what the heck is a thermomix?’ 🙂 (Don’t get me started on the awesomeness of this kitchen master! Perhaps google it?!!)

Today I just want to share some ESSENTIAL items that have been AMAZING in cleaning ‘Thermie Joy’ as my kids call him 🙂 Do you find it a little tricky to clean sometimes? After purchasing one a little while back, Norwex has proven VERY effective in the cleaning of it.

So how do you clean the thermomix with Norwex?

What I use…

Spirisponges clean the bowl and blades (without scratching)
Spirisponges clean the bowl and blades (without scratching)

Spirisponges…

* The Norwex Spirisponge is a sponge covered by a scrubber that is safe for use on Teflon® and smooth-top stoves. It also cleans the bowl and blades without scratching it. The part that I find the trickiest in cleaning is that section above the blades, well the spirisponge gets in there beautifully 🙂

Kitchen Cloths…

* The second genius product is the humble Norwex kitchen cloth, it’s made of Norwex’s outstanding Antibac microfibre, these cloths are extra absorbent and perfect for a variety of kitchen jobs- the dishes, cupboards, the fridge AND the thermomix! Due to its absorption and the high density microfibre it wipes messes superbly from the ‘lip’ at the top where the bowl fits.

Kitchen Cloths- prefect for wiping over and pleaning splatters & crumbs

Kitchen Towels

*The Norwex Kitchen Towel (similar to the cloth but tea towel size) is FABULOUS at drying the bowl, base and blades. You know those times when you are making a few things in a row and you have to make sure you dry the BASE really well? The kitchen towel sucks the water up with EASE, LOVE IT!!!!!

The Amazing Dishmat…

The Norwex Dishmat– perfect for sitting your thermy (and other

dishes) onto dry- ultra absorbant, compact & its design really allows things to dry without condensation. Pile dishes high as they dry, and eliminate drenched towels with the super absorbent Dish Mat. The mesh side allows air to flow through while the microfibre soaks up excess moisture. The neutral latte colour will blend with almost any kitchen décor. (also matches the ‘latte’ kitchen cloths & towels.

 Our NEW Stainless Steel Brush…

The new stainless steel brush designed to clean the awesome stainless steel straws are awesome at cleaning thermomix blades. I made risotto (as pictured) which does a great job at messing up the blades and using this strong little brush, it cleaned it in no time at all. Also the underneath part of the butterfly- perfect for that cleaning job aswell!

The Fruit & Veggie Scrub cloth…

Oh you have to get the AMAZING Fruit and Veggie Scrub cloth, can scrub off nasty chemicals and also dirt and then pop the whole fruit/veg in without necessarily peeling (such as the carrot).

Remove dirt, wax, pesticides, bacteria with JUST water and this cloth...
Remove dirt, wax, pesticides, bacteria with JUST water and this cloth…

It is a two sided, scrub and dry Microfibre cloth for cleaning of fruit and vegetables. Removes dirt, pesticides, bacteria and waxy coating using pure water only it is 32 cm x 32 cm and of course the two year warranty, like all our cloths.

So many more uses for these items…

The cool thing about Norwex is that you can use these products for SO MANY OTHER USES as well…. for example wash your apples with the fruit and veggie scrub cloth and let them dry on the absorbant dish mat, use the brush to clean inside bottles and drink bottles, use the kitchen cloth to wipe benches so they are clean and streak free & I could go on and on and ON!!! (and on!!)

How can you get these awesome Thermomix cleaning gems?

You can just head to my Norwex Online Shop, click on the link or the tab at the top of the page 🙂

Or email me at rachellepotter78@gmail.com if you would like to know how you can get them in a special package just from me. The ultimate Thermie Care Bag 🙂

So, What is Norwex?

Up until late 2012 I would of said, “Nor-what”?? Norwex stands for “the Norwegian experience”- it originates from Norway 🙂

Maybe you have heard the word Norwex mentioned by a friend, or seen it on a mothers forum. Maybe your friend has invited you to a Norwex party and you are currently doing your own research? Maybe you are looking for a side hustle, something different to do or work? Maybe you have family members who have health concerns and you are looking for alternatives to chemicals.

Below you will find some info about Norwex, if you are after more practical ‘what product does what’ then please head to my Norwex essentials post here.

Let me start with a splash of history…

It all started in 1994 when the Norwegian operation, “cleaning without chemicals” was born. In 1999 “Norwex”- “The Norwegian Experience” spreads to Canada with the Norwex Enviro products. In 2007, Norwex introduced a new microfibre and microsilver and 2008 saw Norwex Australia officially opened (yeah, Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi Oi!!”). In 2011, Norwex expanded their products, introducing their personal care products.

And so the Norwex mission statement expanded to:

“Improving quality of life by radically reducing the use of chemicals in personal care and cleaning”

In 2014 it simplified to become:

fb banner mission statement

 What about chemicals?

In the last 50 years, more than 80,000 new chemicals have been created. Recently an article was published by Choice Australia (if you click on the link the article will open in a new window) it was about known and common chemicals to avoid in household and personal care products which have been linked to causing some cancers and reproductive abnormalities. It is a really scary list and one that confirms for me the absolute rightness that I be involved in a company that does indeed “strive to improve quality of life rather than standard of living”. Most of the chemicals we are exposed too, haven’t been assessed on how they impact on human health. And there are growing links to chemicals and things like asthma and allergies as well.

Over the next little while I will go into more depth about chemicals, be sure to sign up to my email so you can stay informed.

I love what I read from our Chairman, in the inside cover of our catalogue,

“Our vision reaches far beyond making a profit. Norwex goes above that limited horizon with deep respect for the value and beauty of all life and a healthy planet. We are committed to making a powerful and positive difference in the world we live in and the lives we touch”.

Norwex Microfibre, how does is work?

All of our microfibre products carry a 2 year warranty AND everything you buy from Norwex carries a 60 day money back guarantee. I find these two policies amazing and shows me how Norwex stands behind their products.

Microfibre

Norwex microfibre is 1/200th the size of a strand of human hair, one of the most innovative products in the cleaning industry today. Here’s an interesting fact, in each Norwex Enviro Cloth there is approximately 2.9 million metres of microfibre! You can use the cloths dry to dust or wet to clean. Most of the cloths have micro silver added at the pulp stage of manufacturing. The cloths include ‘BacLock’ technology. The micro silver is an antibacterial agent for self-cleaning purposes only. The agent is solely designed to inhibit bacterial odour, mould, and/or mildew growth within the product.

What does this mean for cleaning?

There is no need to use harmful chemicals while cleaning, only water! The  microfibre lifts the dirt, grease and grime into the cloth and off the surface. Surfaces are left free from everything- cleaned, polished, and smear free.

What is Norwex? Why is it so great?

If you wanted to read more information about what Norwex is, and the differences between Norwex and other microfibres, read more here.

Personal care

I touched briefly before on chemicals. The personal care range uses the bacloc technology in the microfibre in products such as the suede make up removal cloths and body cloths. The ingredients in the body and skincare products don’t contain any of the ‘nasties’ (see below and in the article link above) rather ONLY ingredients that are natural and organic, not synthetic.

Some ‘nasties’- Mineral oil and silicon; Synthetic emulsifiers like PEG (polyethylene glycol); Viscosity controlling agents like Carbomer; Preservatives such as formaldehyde releasers, parabens, or phenoxyethanol; Synthetic perfumes; Synthetic dyes; and Synthetic solvents like propylene glycol.

Have a look at the products you use and see if they have any of these ingredients…

What does this mean for your personal care?

Ingredients that are pure and safe for the environment means they are more gentle on your skin. This promotes better quality of life and helps to reduce the damaging effects of toxins. They are a beautiful range and since my ‘switch’ to Norwex have only been impressed and amazed at the results.

And you know what?

If a product doesn’t ‘agree’ with your skin, and even natural ingredients can react on some sensitive skin, then you have 60 days to return your product to the consultant you bought it from and either try something else or get your money back!!

So, What is Norwex?

WARNING: Using Norwex can make glass invisible….

Image

I had a customer show me this photo during the week and I have been having a giggle ever since, as have they (Thankfully the person who walked into the sliding door is okay!)

I call them the ‘Norwex Besties’- our Enviro cloth & window cloth with water do A-M-A-Z-I-N-G things!! Like… cleaning dirty windows so well that they look like they’re invisible!! Have you tried them yet?

I have a link on my page to the online catalogue if you would like to look some more or there is a tab at the top to take you to my online store aswell. I LOVE the fact that using just water and a couple of cloths you can clean windows so easily.

So HOW do you get an invisible window?

Use a damp enviro cloth and wipe over the window area, if you use it folded, rather than scrunched, you can fold it over as it becomes dirty. Spray water if needed. THEN all you do is use the polish cloth and wipe over the glass. Note at demonstrations I also add butter to the window (or mirror) for an extra WOW factor 🙂

You can use these cloths for SO MANY THINGS- showers, mirrors, cleaning walls, doors and more.
